Dream Job - Fact or Fiction? By Jordan Wirsz, Author, Mentor, Speaker

Finding a dream job seems a bit esoteric doesn't it? Most people listen to the phrase "dream job" and think "sounds great, but it's not reality." After-all, they wouldn't call it WORK if it was "dreamy," right?

The fundamental difference between people who have an incredible career (play) and those who suffer through years of exhaustion (work) is the meaning they give to their job. It sounds simple, even simplistic doesn't it? But it's real. In today's economic environment, people are holding onto jobs like a life-raft on the Titanic. And those who lost their jobs, and scrambling to find one at a staggering pace with enormous competition. But it doesn't have to be the heard road to walk that we make it out to be.

Finding a job that you're passionate about means finding yourself. What do you ENJOY doing? Chances are, if you're good at something, you'll enjoy doing it as long as it gives you a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment.

Finding your dream job takes thought, energy, commitment, and focus. The first step in finding your dream job, is taking an hour of two of quiet time...Away from the kids, no cell phone, no TV, no distractions, and write down what you have loved and what you have hated about your various job roles over the past years. Ask yourself, what are you good at? What do you enjoy the most? If you could wake up and do anything in the world, what would it be?

It is important to know what you're not good at as much as what you are good at. And what you enjoy as much as what you don't enjoy. Most people view finding a dream job as an epiphany that will happen while thinking about it...But more than likely, that epiphany will come in the middle of the night, the next day, week, or even month.

Writing down your ideas, your likes and dislikes, and discussing with close friends, your spouse, or mentor, will help your subconscious mind think through it every moment of the day until the epiphany happens. Working with as many entrepreneurs as I do, often times it's not a question of what job to get, but what's the next business to start. Using this same simple process creates extraordinary results whether you're looking for a dream job or dream business.
